5 Sustainable Design Choices for your Office : Meet our Suppliers

Sustainability is high on our agenda when it comes to office design, fit-out and our choice of furniture.

We are passionate about what we do and deeply aware of our responsibility as a design & build contractor, so not only that we recognise, but appreciate that our operations may have an impact locally and ultimately, globally.

Sustainability improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem and preserves natural resources for future generations. Going green and sustainable is not only beneficial for the company, but it also maximizes the benefits from an environmental focus in the long-term.

An easy way to make your office more eco-friendly is to opt for better office products.

And that’s exactly what we do here at Absolute. We partner with suppliers that share our vision, so that together we can make a difference.

1. Our Eco Choice of Flooring

We are highly aware of the impact our flooring has on our planet, so we specify flooring products very carefully, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of your space and help improve the health of the planet.

When we choose flooring for our clients, Interface is one of our first choices, as the first global manufacturer to sell all products as carbon neutral across their full life cycle.

A green design choice for your flooring could be, for example, tiles out of recycled fishing nets . Both Interface and Forbo transformed unwanted materials to construct unique, textured and sustainable flooring, whilst simultaneously supporting local fishing businesses across the world.

It’s a fantastic initiative from all angles!

2. Sustainable Office Furniture

Stewardship of the environment has long been a core value for our trusted partner Herman Miller, and we both believe in managing our resources responsibly to preserve Earth’s.

We have started to integrate transformed plastic into our designs, such as the Aeron chair, to reduce the volume of plastic waste, little by little.

Now made with plastic waste diverted from our oceans, the Aeron chair changed the perception of what an office chair could do.

Incorporating ocean bound plastic into your office is an amazing way towards a greener office and the Aeron Chair in Onyx diverts over 44 metric tons of plastic annually away from the ocean.

Our supplier Elite also did an amazing job in the last 2 years, managing a 21% reduction in Diesel Co2e, 51.8% reduction in electricity & gas usage, 27.2% reduction in water usage and zero waste in landfill.

3. Green Fabrics

When it comes to fabrics, Camira is our number one to-go-to for sustainable selections.

For example, Oceanic is a fabric made from 100% recycled plastic including marine waste taken back from the ocean working with the Seaqual initiative. Each metre contains the equivalent of 26 plastic bottles.

Quest is a continuation of Camira’s partnership with the Sequal Initiative to combat marine plastic pollution.

A subtle two-tone weave, woven entirely from post-consumer recycled plastic and suitable for multi-application : task seating, soft seating and acoustics / panels.

Each metre contains the equivalent of 23 plastic bottles.

EnviroFlam5 is yet another environmentally friendly cotton backing developed to provide higher flame retardancy, without using chemicals which cause harm to the environment.

4. Acoustic Panels

Indoor air quality can be affected by the materials that are used in building interiors.

That’s why our suppliers are committed to maximising health and safety in any space and their products are designed without any toxic ingredients to support human and environmental health.

Acoustic panels are a great design choice to help with supporting wellbeing in buildings.

Our partners Autex Acoustics develop products made from polyester that can be recycled several times in their lifecycle.

Each product has been tested for VOC’s using the CDPH Standard Method and are within the permitted VOC limits for acceptable health impacts, even with prolonged exposure.

5. Branded Products

We choose our eco products from PG Branding, helping the planet whilst also getting brand exposure.

Things such as recycled cardboard notebooks, bamboo pens, recycled paper pencils and recycled drawstring backpacks are all great ways to both increase brand awareness and protect the planet.
